We acknowledge that we operate in, and share, Yellowstone National Park and the surrounding landscape, or as the Apsaalooke refer to it, Land of Steam. This is a traditional shared homeland for dozens of Nations for at least 13,000 years including the Apsaalooke, Blackfeet, Shoshone, Salish, Kootenai, Pend d’Oreille, Nez Perce, and Northern Cheyenne. The Sheepeater-Shoshone were the only known group who lived in the park year-round, but all traveled through it, knew it, named it, and lived it seasonally. We also share the rivers of this great landscape. We honor, with gratitude, the land and water itself and the people who have stewarded it throughout the generations.
